Located in the Great Southern region, Albany is the site of the State’s oldest settlement – but today, this coastal city is evolving into a modern regional hub with a rapidly growing population. This transformative project, introduces an entirely new housing typology to the Great Southern market.
Following comprehensive research into population demographics, housing typology and market dynamics in the region, DevelopmentWA partnered with PTX Architects to conceptualise an innovative new medium density product for Middleton Beach. The Duettes are dual-purpose, double-storey terrace homes, combining two separate accommodation areas with dual key access and independent entrances. The six modern homes will offer occupants maximum flexibility by providing the opportunity to incorporate separate work and living spaces, to sublet an apartment space , or accommodate multi -generational living.
These unique homes will mark the first purpose-designed medium density mixed-use development to be delivered by DevelopmentWA in regional WA. Their construction will act as a catalyst for the development of the Middleton Activity Centre, bringing new life to a long-vacant and under-utilised site, and will introduce genuine choice and increased housing diversity to an established market dominated by standalone dwellings. As an exemplar of the benefits offered by quality medium-density development in regional markets, they will set a new benchmark and provide an example for the private sector to follow as WA’s regions continue to grow.
